Hello beautiful people,
This is a bittersweet video to post, as it captures a particularly idyllic time in the garden. But as we know so well, nothing gold can stay.
In the middle of this week we experienced a hail storm that devastated much of our neighborhood here in Austin, including Garden Coco. I am happy to report that Pierre and loved ones were safe inside, so we are fortunate. The flowers and plants, on the other hand, cannot say the same.
Having gardened and lived in our world for a minute or two, my way through something like this is to trust in the wisdom of mother nature. She will regrow and I will assist, and replant a fall garden after the scorching heat of summer passes.
For now I am so sorry, for the bees and birds and butterflies, who lost their habitat that they called home, on this little patch of land.
If being an artist-gardener-zenster has taught me anything, it’s to drop my ideas of ownership and take up a posture of caring deeply, about every living thing.
With love, Jess
