Hello there, how are you? The theme of studio life lately has been experimenting.
This was my first time trying Daniel Smith watercolors and my reaction was just “wow.” This set is selected by watercolorist Jean Haines and I found it to be perfect for the vibrant florals I’m so drawn to at the moment. 🌺
I was also gifted some groovy watercolor sketchbooks by Arrtx and was quite impressed. (Later I tried a realistic apple on them and they definitely didn’t handle the layering as well. But for the loose florals they were perfect.)
I have a tiny, growing library of floral inspiration books at this point, and Francis Palmer’s Life With Flowers is one of my faves. She goes into how she grows her cutting garden and it’s filled with gorgeous photos (that she takes herself) of flower arrangements in her own pottery. If that is not the ideal creative life I don’t know what is. 🏺

Wishing you a wonderfully creative weekend,
xoxo, Jess
P.S. Here’s our Patreon tutorial this week, one of my favorite subjects to paint. ✨
