Hello beautiful people,
I am writing this at 8pm on Saturday night with a pup sitting at my feet, begging for extra walks and attention, so it will be short and sweet!
This season has been about prioritizing balance and noticing how much creative flow is enhanced by other replenishing activities like gardening, cloud gazing, zenning, and having wholesome conversations with friends. Life is not separate from art, and that truth has become increasingly clear with each passing week, as I weave together these videos.
I’ve been working in the garden again (rather than merely pottering in the garden) and have all sorts of creative schemes for new additions this season. We shall see what gets done! I find this kind of slow and steady work, in concert with nature, incredibly gratifying. And I suppose that is something that is settling within me. As exciting as it is to go fast now and then, my nature prefers to move slower, at the speed of the nature around me, most of the time.
I have also come back to zen practice this season with more “rigor” which just means renewing my commitment to deepen my practice through the end of the year. After taking nearly a year off of community practice, it feels so good to come back to the cushion, incense, bells, and bows. I especially love the bows.
Wishing you a wonderful week basking in the Autumn (or Spring!) light.
x Jess
