Ushering in a Season of Creative Growth and Transformation

a proper artist's summer
7

Hello beautiful people,

How have you been? It is lovely to be back here, sharing another little slice of my life as an artist. My summer break from narrating life was transformative and a practice I want to incorporate somewhat regularly. There is nothing like clearing some space in your mind to allow the dormant seeds of creativity to sprout. (I don’t think I realize how much mental energy media and content take until I take a wee break from them!)

Although I didn’t create or consume much, I did capture many sweet moments and various goings on. I wasn’t sure whether these moments would really make sense when strung together, but as it turns out, all of the various activities I did outside the studio worked in harmony to ignite my creative spark.

My beautiful mess of a studio right now

Truth be told I had been feeling a bit stagnant in the realm of creativity. In the studio (aside from the brief floral breaks I share in these videos) I had been focused on putting together a cohesive body of gallery-ready work. And once I did that and participated in my first group show this summer at Craighead Green Gallery (thank you, guys!) I was seized with a looming “now what?”

So that is the theme of this video, now what? And if you have any answers to the “now whats” in your own practice, creative or otherwise, I would love to hear them.
